An Absolute Shower 2
on sale December 20
Hard on the heels of our 2019 worldwide smash-hit - 'An Absolute Shower' - comes the cunningly titled 'An Absolute Shower 2' - another delve into the archives of classic British comedy on vinyl - all of it conveniently out-of-copyright, of course
Tommy Cooper, Peter Sellers, Spike Milligan and Bernard Bresslaw grace the grooves of another Fruits de Mer Christmas cracker, hopefully showing that the label can be laughed with, as well as laughed at.
The songs you'll enjoy (at least for the first two or three times you play the record - how on Earth did Phil the lathecutter manage to sit through it 70 times?) are:
side one
Peter Sellers - ‘I’m So Ashamed’ ( from 1958)
Spike Milligan -
‘Wormwood Scrubs Tango’ (1962)
Side two
Tommy Cooper -
‘Don’t Jump Off The Roof, Dad’ (1961)
Bernard Bresslaw -
‘You Need Feet’ (1958)
All quite ridiculous, of course, but that's the joy of much of British humour - it's vaguely shambolic, rough around the edges, and just plain daft - I love it, so any excuse to share a few moments of it via Fruits de Mer.
Copies of 'Absolute Shower 2' will only be offered people in the UK (I'm sorry, I can't offer copies outside the UK at present - I need to understand the implications of new customs bureaucracy that is coming into effect); it's likely that UK club members will claim all copies and there will need to be a lucky draw - but if less than 70 club members stake a claim then I will extend the offer to our longer UK mailing-list .
